Dr. Ina Yoon, Chair

Ina-Yoon(ext. 217), Piano, Organ, Harpsichord, and Accordian Department Chair, Little Mozarts Coordinator and Instructor, Dr. Ina Yoon was born in South Korea where she was the first prize winner of numerous piano competitions, including the Korean News Paper Performing Arts Competition and the Education Music Competition in Kyung Nam. She was featured as a soloist with the Flint Symphony Orchestra in 2008 and has an extensive performance background as both a soloist and chamber musician in South Korea and the United States. Dr. Yoon earned a bachelor’s degree in music from Saginaw Valley State University, a master’s degree from Ohio State University, and earned her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at Michigan State University. She has studied with several prominent pianists, including Louis Nagel, Steven Glaser and Panayis Lyras. Dr. Yoon teaches at Kettering University, the Steinway Gallery in Novi, and has been on faculty at the Flint School of Performing Arts since 2006 where she maintains her private piano studio, is the coordinator of the Little Mozarts program, and is a founding member of Davanti, a chamber music ensemble in residence with the Flint Institute of Music. Davanti, supported and funded by a generous chamber music endowment, won third prize in the prestigious 2008 International Chamber Music Ensemble Competition.
