Dr. Joy Schroeder, Chair

(ext. 212), Piano, Organ and Harpsichord Department Chair: B.M. (education), M.M. (theory), D.M.A. (performance), University of Michigan; M.A. (performance), Eastern Michigan University; M.M. (choral music), Wayne State University. She has completed the ARCT Piano Performance Certificate from the Royal Conservatory of Music and has given solo recitals in Michigan, Ohio, Washington, D.C., Germany and England. She is the immediate past director of the Seminary and Denominational Relations Committee for the American Guild of Organists and its Regional Director of education.She is organist at First Church of Christ, Scientist, Flint.

Andrea Zlatec Floden

(no ext.), Piano: B.M.(performance, education), Eastern Michigan University. Performing member and past president, St. Cecilia Society. Faculty member, Mott Community College. Past accomplishments include Concerto Competition winner and performance with the Flint Symphony Orchestra as well as multiple local and state orchestras. Scholarships to Interlochen Music Camp. Area performer and accompanist.

Julia Hull

Roger Jones

(ext. 218) Piano. Attended Oberlin Conservatory 1989-1993. Performed professionally in US, Europe, Turkey and Japan. Has performed with Marcus Belgrave, JJ Johnson, Wallace Roney, Wynton Marsalis, Joe Henderson and Roy Hargrove. Leader of Roger Jones and Higher Calling.

Former Music Director, Trinity United Presbyterian Church (NJ), Green Ridge Presbyterian Church (PA), Scranton Singer's Guild (PA), West End Methodist Church (TN). Member, American Guild of Organists, Association of Anglican Musicians, and Artistic Director of Music at St. Paul series.

Ida Leshchinskaya

(ext. 247), Piano: Degrees in solo performance, pedagogy, accompanying and chamber music with distinction, State Academy of Music (Moscow) and both the State Conservatory and Specialized Music School (Kishinev, Moldova). She serves on the piano faculty at the University of Michigan-Flint. She uses her original method, Le Pianiste Debutante (The Young Pianist), which was previously published in Russia and released under four editions (1986, 1989, 1992, 1994). She has also published Daily Exercises for Young Pianists (1994). By invitation, she has presented workshops, lectures and master classes in Russia, Moldova, Ukraine, Poland, Japan, Italy, and the United States. Awards include “Honored Musician of Russia,” from the Moscow Union of Musicians in 1993.

Jeffrey Walker

(ext. 256), Organ and Harpsichord: M.M. (performance), Eastman School of Music; B.M. (performance), Oberlin College Conservatory of Music. Organist/Choir Master, Christ Episcopal Church in Detroit. Former Organist and Director of Music (for 18 years), First Presbyterian Church of Flint.

Dr. Ina Yoon

(ext. 217), Piano: was born in South Korea. After winning first prize in numerous piano competitions in Korea, including the Korean News Paper Performing Arts Competition and the Education Music Competition in Kyung Nam, she has been an active performing artist in Korea and the United States. Alongside being a concert pianist in her early years, Ms. Yoon earned a Bachelor’s degree in music from Saginaw Valley State University and a Master’s degree from the Ohio State University. She has studied with prominent pianists such as Louis Nagel, Steven Glaser, and Panayis Lyras. She is in the final stages of earning her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at Michigan State University. Currently, Ina Yoon teaches at the Flint Institute of the Performing Arts and she is a member of Davanti trio which is a chamber music ensemble in residence with the Flint Symphony Orchestra and the Flint Institute of the Performing Arts supported and funded by a generous chamber music endowment.
