Flint Festival Chorus

The Flint Festival Chorus is a dynamic, 75 member volunteer chorus under the direction of Bradley Bloom. The Chorus presents several performances of major choral works each season.

Flint Festival Chorus Concert

Sing your favorite holiday carols with the Flint Symphony Orchestra at Holiday Pops in December, perform in the beautiful First Presbyterian Church in February and return to The Whiting stage in April for the closing concert of the Flint Symphony Orchestra season.

Bradley Bloom was selected in 1997 to head the Flint Festival Chorus. Bloom’s more than 25 years of experience includes a broad base of choral proficiency that spans from the professional to the amateur. He has prepared choirs for Robert Shaw, Sergiu Commissiona, John Nelson, Robert Fountain and other national artists. His conducting engagements have included the Ann Arbor Cantata Singers, University of Michigan Men’s Glee Club, Flint Symphony, Grand Rapids Symphony, Ann Arbor Symphony and members of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. He has also served on the faculties of the Aspen Music Festival and the National Music Camp at Interlochen.

Bloom recently completed an appointment as Associate Dean for Administrative Affairs at the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance and as interim Director of Choral Activities at Eastern Michigan University. Previously, he served as Professor of Music at Schoolcraft College where he conducted the Community Choir, the Schoolcraft Choir and Chamber Singers, and the vocal jazz ensemble. He designed and maintained one of the best music technology labs in the region at Schoolcraft College and founded the Learning Technologies Committee there. He conducted the Digital Music Ensemble and taught courses in music theory, music history and music technology. He also serves on the faculty of the University of Michigan as an adjunct professor in the Conducting Department.

Bloom received a master’s degree from the University of Michigan and a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) in conducting from the University of Iowa.
