Help us help others transform their lives through the magic and power of the arts!

Your contribution helps provide…

  • fun, engaging Early Childhood Music Classes for babies as young as six weeks old, establishing important brain connections that help children learn as they grow.

  • edge-of-your-seat Flint Symphony Orchestra performances for more than 18,000 audience members each year.

  • memories of a lifetime for FSPA dancers ages 8 to 18 as they perform in Nutcracker with the Flint Symphony and professional dancers from Dance Theatre of Harlem.

  • the thrill of discovering new instruments, new music and new possibilities for 30,000 elementary students each year who experience the Troubadours.

Why is your donation important?

Contributions from businesses and individuals like you make all the difference. Here’s why:

Tickets and tuition only cover half our costs. The FIM would have to charge more than $100 for a ticket to the Flint Symphony, or more than $45 for a private lesson at the Flint School of Performing Arts. That would make these great experiences inaccessible for many of the thousands of people we serve.

In order to make up the difference, we hold several fundraising events, and receive funds from grants and endowments. But we still must rely on memberships, that is, contributions from businesses and individuals like you, to make up the rest.

Knowing that you support an organization that, literally, provides programs for every part of our community, from infants to senior citizens, and of every income level, is tremendously satisfying. And, you know, too, that the arts are an integral part of the cultural fabric of a well-functioning urban area, attracting businesses and employees.

As a member, you also receive valuable tax breaks. Because FIM is a nonprofit 501c3 organization, all donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.

And, you receive a number of valuable perks. Not only do all donors receive their name printed in the widely-read FIM program book, donors at certain levels receive priority parking for FSO classical concerts, invitations to open FSO rehearsals, special receptions and complimentary tickets.

Why are the arts important?

The arts provide an obvious aesthetic beauty and enjoyment to all those who experience them. And, music and dance are entertaining, educational, challenging and inspiring—a powerful combination!

Study of the arts also has very tangible results. It is known that SAT scores increase an average of 40 points in English and math with four or more years of music study. Students who are involved in the arts also experience the thrill of mastering an instrument or dancing, and they learn important life skills like teamwork, dedication and problem-solving.
