Performance opportunities abound with Flint Youth Ballet (FYB), the most advanced of the dance ensembles for ages 12-18. In addition to the Seeing Stars! Benefit Recital, Ensemble Showcase and Festival of Dance, FYB members also perform in Nutcracker and will return to Austria in 2011 for their third tour of Young Tanzsommer!
Students enrolled in the Intermediate Ballet II and III and Advanced Ballet I and II classes, as well as, dance students of the same level from other mid-Michigan dance schools, are encouraged to audition for FYB. Non-FSPA students are required to take one company class per week, as well as, two ballet technique classes, with their current teacher and one Modern Dance class per week.
The Balanchine Project is Flint Youth Ballet's discovery of the Balanchine aesthetic through the exploration of Russian Classical Ballet and American dance forms. Through a collaboration with the world renown Balanchine Trust, FSPA dancers are participating in Master Classes with Balanchine artists. The project will culminate in a performance of a Balanchine Ballet as FYB celebrates its 25th Anniversary in 2012.

As a member of Flint Youth Ballet, you’ll be part of an outstanding company, with a wide range of travel and performance opportunities. FYB is an Honor Company of the Mid-States Ballet Association/Regional Dance America, and hosted the Association’s Regional Festival in 1999. In 2002, Flint Youth Ballet toured Austria.
